Should Marchand Have Been Considered in Conn Smythe Talk?

As I sit here watching the winner takes all game 7 of the Stanley Cup final I can’t help but think Brad Marchand has been a little hard done by in the post season MVP chatter.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ve been convinced it’s been Tim Thomas’s to lose for the past couple pof games and once a game 7 was assured that was basically it sorted in my book – Timmy T for MVP!

But I have quite enjoyed hearing the other cases being made for other players to win the Conn Smythe trophy.

Ryan Kesler was arguable the favourite coming in to the final. Roberto Luongo was probably in there and Dave Krejci and Patrice Bergeron both had a claim to win.

But what about Brad Marchand? He’s just scored the Bruins second goal in this game, he grabbed a massive opening goal in game 6, he’s been in the Sedin’s face and made their lives hell and generally been a MASSIVE pain in the butt for the Canucks.

In short, he has done a little bit of everything! Again I stress that Thomas is my clear and only pick for this years Conn Smythe – but surely Marchand deserves an honourable mention in the ‘debate’?
